The first Friday of each month, our Plant With Purpose staff and partners around the world join together in prayer for our partners and our work. We invite you to join with us, lifting up these praises and prayers to God and seeking his continued favor and protection over this important global work.

Burundi
We Give Praise For:
- God’s protection over our staff, families, and participants during July.
- Completing fourth-quarter reports and our annual report on time, despite fuel shortages during field data collection.
- Our staff who attended an innovation exchange conference, hosted in Moshi, Tanzania, where they were able to meet with the local Tanzanian team. We thank God that their trip was safe and productive.
- Healing for the various staff family members who were ill or hospitalized. We thank God that all these people are now at home and that their health is improving.
We Pray For:
- Continued protection for our staff, their families, and participants during August.
- More involvement from partners in local watersheds, Purpose Group members, churches, and local administration as we begin work in tree nurseries during this critical period of tree seedling production.
- Protection from bushfires, which are very common in this dry season. May God encourage our local partners to remain vigilant until the end of the season in September.
- The ongoing fuel shortage crisis that Burundi has been experiencing for several years.
Democratic Republic of the Congo
We Give Praise For:
- God’s divine protection over our staff, families, and the communities where we are working.
- Successful fourth quarter reporting, where our staff collected data in every watershed, even the watersheds that were affected by conflicts.
- The Purpose Group members who have shared their savings this month, despite the fear and uncertainty that local conflicts have caused. We celebrate their outstanding achievement.
- The improvement of national security, after the ceasefire agreement between M23 and the national government. We thank God that there is hope for peace in the watersheds where we work.
- Continued progress of activities in Lugali and Kahungwe. We thank God that farmers are participating in Farmer Field School and are eager to apply sustainable farming techniques in their farms.
We Pray For:
- The start of fiscal year 2026 activities in all watersheds, especially as we develop the organization in the coming months.
- The peace-building conference which will take place this month. We pray that it will spark change in the communities affected by conflict.
- A fruitful staff meeting with board members this month. We pray that it will be a good time of prayer and thanksgiving for God’s protection during the months of violence.
- The health of a partner pastor, who has been sick. We ask God for a quick recovery and complete healing from sickness.
Dominican Republic
We Give Praise For:
- God's protection for all staff as they travel through different communities this month.
- The successful collection of the final data of the fiscal year. We praise God for all that was accomplished during fiscal year 2025.
- The launch of a new activity tracking app, which will enhance our team's effectiveness in the field and strengthen our ability to serve participants.
- The rains that have fallen this month allowing farmers to continue planting cacao and other crops.
We Pray For:
- Strength and comfort for the family of a paster from Region Central, who passed away after a heart attack. The pastor was a strong example of servant leadership and community transformation.
- The new savings groups in the Nizao 2 watershed. We pray that these newly supported families will be empowered and able to improve their lives.
- The children's camp activities that are being held. May God bless the children, and may the topics they discuss bring them a blessing this summer and in the years to come.
Ethiopia
We Give Praise For:
- The continued protection and security of our dedicated staff operating in high-risk environments.
- The successful completion of our annual plan, the tree seedling plantation, and the finalization of our 2026-2028 goals, despite tremendous challenges.
We Pray For:
- A smooth and successful start as we begin our first quarter program.
- The timely and effective completion of our impact evaluation and ongoing tree plantation activities.
- A swift and favorable resolution to ongoing legal matters.
- Lasting peace and improved security across Ethiopia, with a special focus on the Amhara region
Haiti
We Give Praise For:
- A community promoter in the Limbe watershed. We thank God that she returned home healthy after spending a week at the hospital.
- The health and security of the participants in the Mowo, Trou Mahot, and Ti Penn watersheds, despite the difficulty of life during the last fiscal year. We pray for a better upcoming fiscal year.
- The participants of the Sèche and Fer à Cheval watersheds. We praise God for the safety, motivation, and rainfall that enabled staff and participants to achieve success in the last fiscal year.
- The health of a community leader in the Soliette watershed who had a successful surgery.
We Pray For:
- The father of one of our colleagues, a respected leader in a watershed, as well as two other team members who are currently sick. We ask for prayers for their quick healing and recovery.
- A good start to the rainy season in our watersheds, which will allow farmers to plant their trees.
- The rotation of coordinators in the Limbe, Ti Penn, Trou Mahot, Mowo, and Madan Dimanche watersheds. We pray this change will improve the results of our activities and positively impact the lives of participants.
- An improvement to the insecurity in the country, and in the watersheds Sèche and Fer à Cheval, in particular. The participants and the staff are scared because of the presence of the gangs in two neighborhoods in these watersheds.
Malawi
We Give Praise For:
- The Malawi program’s two-year anniversary! We are thankful for God’s provision over our work, local leadership, staff, and partners.
- Continued good health and provision over our lives and families.
We Pray For:
- Peace in the country of Malawi, especially during a period of political campaigns and upcoming elections.
- The smooth recruitment for a field facilitator. We pray that the person we hire for this position will be filled with the Holy Spirit, a person of integrity, and willing to align themselves with our values.
- The smooth implementation of the activities we have planned for fiscal year 2026.
Mexico
We Give Praise For:
- A successful visit of the Vista Hermosa Foundation team and Plant With Purpose U.S. to local communities in Mexico. Hosting these visitors is always a great blessing to local staff and participants.
- The goodwill and encouragement of the people who, taking advantage of the rainy season, are continuing reforestation activities in this new quarter.
- The staff vacancies that have been filled.
- Healthy plant production in the nurseries, and the people who dedicate their time and energy to making these nurseries possible year after year.
We Pray For:
- New communities, new leaders, and new Purpose Groups will be formed, allowing more families to participate in the transformative development of their communities.
- God’s provision for the development of our programs and projects this month.
- The political and economic situation in Mexico. We pray for wisdom in the leaders and authorities of our country.
- Health, grace, and care for each team member who travels to the communities.
Tanzania
We Give Praise For:
- God’s continued protection, as He sustained our staff, partners, and communities in all their engagements.
- The successful staff review meetings, which not only encouraged reflection and strategic focus for fiscal year 2026, but also included valuable training on data analysis to enhance our program monitoring.
- A new opportunity to share our work at the Innovation Exchange Conference in Moshi, where stories of women-led agroecology and landscape restoration inspired participants.
- A successful Vision Trip at Sanya and Hai West, where workshop participants visited Purpose Groups, exchanged ideas, and learned from one another’s experiences.
- The gift of newborn babies to three staff members. May God watch over these little ones and grant them health, protection, and joyful growth.
We Pray For:
- God’s faithful protection throughout August for all staff, families, partners, and the communities we serve.
- Wisdom, favor, and unity in the ongoing preparations for the Wona watershed graduation. We pray that the ceremony will be a joyful and meaningful milestone.
- Guidance and strength as we implement planned activities across local watersheds.
- Healing and a full recovery for team members experiencing illness and recovery from accidents. We ask that they may be renewed in both body and spirit.
Thailand
We Give Praise For:
- God’s guidance as we completed quarter four watershed activities, as we look forward to continuing to develop the program in Thailand.
- God’s protection during all travels to target communities throughout fiscal year 2025, with no serious accidents. We thank God that the work proceeded according to plan.
- God’s protection and guidance during the successful transportation and planting of seedlings in the fourth quarter.
- Successful capacity building training and reflection forums on spirituality, rights, and network. These allowed staff to learn, grow, develop new skills, and apply them to their work.
We Pray For:
- The activities we have planned for fiscal year 2026, particularly to encourage greater participation from farmers. May our efforts yield tangible results and be a blessing to the communities.
- God’s guidance in implementing the seedling transportation and tree-planting activities next quarter. May the process be smooth and successful for everyone involved.
- The health of all staff as they work and travel into the watershed communities. We pray especially for the mother of our HR staff member, who is recovering from a stroke. May the Lord bring health, hope, and protection to her and the entire Thailand team this month.
- The family of our IT staff member, who lost his mother at the age of 59, on June 16. May God bring comfort and strength to the family during this time of grief.
United States
We Give Praise For:
- Our generous donors and supporters who partnered with us to achieve $14.1M in revenue, our highest ever. We are grateful for God’s faithfulness in continuing to move our mission forward.
- A productive trip to Thailand last month, where Scott Sabin and Bob Morikawa presented our work on the differences in difference (DID) applications and impact results at the ECHO conference.
- The recent opportunities Plant With Purpose has had to engage with peer organizations at various meetings, including the annual meeting of the American Science Affiliation in Colorado, ESRI conference in San Diego, Department of State listening session with ACCORD in DC, and ECHO conference in Thailand.
We Pray For:
- Wisdom and discernment for the search committee as they begin processing applications for our new CEO. We ask for clarity and insight in evaluating the candidates’ qualifications, and that doors be opened for qualified candidates to be presented.
- The preparations and success of the Planting Hope Gala this coming October. May God grant us increased participation and a spirit of excitement among those who plan to attend.
- The upcoming Board of Directors meeting this month. We ask God for discernment, clarity, and unity among our board members as we begin a new fiscal year.
- The safety of our Global Partners and staff, many of whom are living in conflict zones, as they courageously continue their support of our mission.
