In Loving Memory of Ted Law
TED LAW
1970 - 2024
On the evening of September 12, 2024, we were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our dear friend Ted Law. Ted is survived by his wife Amy, his daughters Emi and Mia, his mother and step-father, Cecily and Rick Jaynes, and his brothers Dennis and Michael.
Ted was the Lead Pastor at Access Evangelical Covenant Church in Houston, Texas – committed to living life with God in soul, community, and mission. This also describes the way Ted lived his life. In Houston, he took his faith out into the community through the creation of Vox, a vital network that impacted social movements through the arts and advocacy. For many years, Ted has also been a dedicated friend of Plant With Purpose. He truly embraced the holistic mission and was passionate about reversing poverty and restoring God’s creation.
Ted joined the Plant With Purpose Board of Directors in 2016, generously serving a 5-year term. During his board term, he served as the Committee Chair of the Board Governance Committee and was instrumental in the creation of the Board Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement. He also provided invaluable support for the first Plant With Purpose Regional Representative in Houston and regularly led a prayer group for staff and Board members, blessing them with a time of gentleness, connection and spiritual support. With Ted as the Head Pastor at Access Evangelical Covenant Church in Houston, Texas, the church has been an incredibly active partner since 2007, including through directly sponsoring Plant With Purpose’s work in the village of Ashira in Tanzania until its successful graduation from our program. Ted traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico with church members in 2017 to learn more about the program and meet the farming families in a village that church members were also directly supporting, MonteFlor. As only Ted could, he eloquently preached in MonteFlor’s local church and the participants were blessed by a unique time of fellowship together. Ted’s tireless support directly led to the transformation of land and lives around the world.
A LIVING LEGACY
In memory of Ted, and in lieu of flowers, his family invites you to continue the work to which Ted was dedicated by planting trees in his honor. These will be a living legacy, reversing poverty, restoring the environment and bringing spiritual renewal to vulnerable families. We also invite you to share your comforting messages and fond memories of Ted with his family.
